St. Therese, The Little Flower

After reading one of St. Therese books, I was so impressed I bought it for Lindsey, hopefully to guide her during her young years. St. Therese is such an inspiration in my life that I wanted to share one of her thoughts with you. Something to get away from the snow. :) Consider the Oaks of the Forest

"Consider the oaks of our countryside, how crooked they are; they thrust their branches to right and left, nothing checks them so they never reach a great height. On the other hand, consider the oaks of the forest, which are hemmed in on all sides, they see light only up above, so their trunk is free of all those shapeless branches which rob it of the sap needed to lift it aloft. It sees only heaven, so all its strength is turned in that direction, and soon it attains a prodigious height. In the religious life the soul like the young oak is hemmed in on all sides by its rule. All its movements are hampered, interfered with by the other trees... But it has light when it looks toward heaven, there alone it can rest its gaze, never upon anything below, it need not be afraid of rising too high."

Why we Love Snow

Every one I talk to in Monticello says they love the snow. So I decided to pay attention and see what it is they love about it. I decided it's because of it's beauty, and the more snow on the mountain the better. The snow is what makes Monticello so green during the summer months. the snow fills all three lakes on the mountain as well. Good fishing. I think, that, most of all they just want to have fun...

Check out this cool, home made sled.

Climbing and sliding down snow banks is tons of fun...

But jumping off into the snow below is even funner.

I'm pretty sure they had a soft landing. I was actually hoping they didn't get buried when they landed. LOL

This guy is really getting into it. This picture was taken in Blanding where they got tons of snow too.
It's amazing to me what the snow will make people do.

Bring on the Snow

I took this picture this morning after Dave had dug some of it out. Consider, also, this is after he shoveled all day yesterday.
The last time I saw this much snow I was about 11 years old, living in Blanding. As of today we are actually seeing more then we did back then. Dave shoveled and shoveled all day long and this is how much we had the last time he went out last night. This is what we had this morning after he jumped out our back door and shoveled so we could even get out our front door.

We are looking out our front door.

My husband is a good trail digger I would say. I'm getting claustrophobic.

Find the hidden car. This was taken at Jessie's house here in Cello. She claims her car is in this somewhere. LOL

This picture is at Grandma Bill's house before the storm hit last night. I wonder if she can still see her fence by now.

This is in Monticello as well, in front of Jessie's house.

The bright side of all this lovely snow is that we are going to have a beautiful spring and summer this year.

Old Pictures - Awesome Memories

Today when I checked my e-mail I had the most awesome surprise awaiting me. My Aunt Karma - who's just the greatest - had sent me these pictures of me and my cousins. In this picture my cousin Robbi, who I wrote a story about on my stories and art blog, and i are sitting on Grandpa and Grandma Low's fireplace hearth. We did many performances for the family on that hearth. In fact, in one of my Christmas stories I wrote about this hearth. This is the place where Santa sat one Christmas Eve while we told him what we wanted for Christmas. Grandma Low and the entire family were great audiences. they sat chairs up so that everyone would have a great seat to watch our special shows. LOL One song we sang (with the record) was, "Seattle." We sang and danced to our songs excited to receive our applause and cheers from everyone. Awe, great memories.
This picture is of myself and cousins up at hi low where Grandpa and Grandma had 2 cabins and a mountain home.

This is up at hi low as well. you can see Robbi, myself, Grandpa Low, Uncle Brian, Jeff, who passed away many years ago from muscular dystrophy, and I believe the other pretty little girl is Andrea. Hope that's right. It's been a very long time.

Going to hi low was one of my favorite places to be when I was young. These pictures open up tons of memories which I should write stories about and put on my stories and art blog. This pic is of Robbi, myself, Staci, Andrea, and Charity.

Deer at the park in Monticello

While driving around town the other day Lindsey and I were amazed at all the deer in town. First we saw about 7 deer by the Catholic church, but they were moving to quick to get a picture. Then as we passed the city park we noticed these deer basking in the warmth of the dry land under the trees. So I told Lindsey to get as close as she could and get a picture of the them. She was able to get pretty close while they just sat there watching her.

Christmas Eve Mass

Christmas eve was so awesome. St. Josephs in Monticello has been so blessed since the arrival of Father Bill. It has been many years since a Priest has come to Monticello for Christmas. We had a very wonderful night celebrating the birth of Christ. We were also blessed, since prior to Christmas Eve, Father Bill had fallen and broke his wrist and arm which required surgery in Salt Lake. We were so blessed that he was able to make it down despite it all. The children sang with angelic voices....
And I was blessed to be able to play my guitar for them, and Mass as well.

Lindsey was taking the pictures for me so we didn't get pictures of her or Dave. But they were there. We sang Mary's Little Boy Child, Oh Come All Ye Faithful, Silent Night, and Joy to the World. After mass Dave and I went to Kylie's house, since she didn't go with us, and Sang Mary's Little Boy Child, and then gave Her and Bridget a stocking with candy and oranges. Then we went home and sang a couple more songs with Kelly since he wouldn't go with us either. It was a very memorable Christmas Eve. The miracle part of it all is that just the day before Christmas Eve, I had fallen on the ice and broke my hand. However, it broke in a place that I could still use my hand so I told the Dr. I could not have it casted since I needed to play Christmas Eve. The break is healing fine without a cast. Praise God the Angels were watching over me.
